Halloween 2011

Thanks to my recent scatter-brained self, I forgot my camera for the following events:

Joshua's Halloween school program
Asher's Halloween school program
Josh & Asher's school costume parade

Soooo, this means I have about five pictures TOTAL from Halloween this year, and the ones I did get were pretty awful. Here's what I've got, take it or leave it!

(Asher really IS a ninja, so he managed to escape almost every single picture.)

Joshua was "Waluigi"

See the similarities?

Asher Ninja

The only picture I got of Max with his Luigi hat on. He was falling asleep before we even started.

He perked right up when he saw these "cute tiny punkins"!

Combination of terror (barking dog) and joy (this lady's gonna give me candy!)

2nd house = actual excitement b/c he finally caught on that they really were gonna put candy in his bucket!

Mostly he enjoyed everyone's "cute little punkins"...

At this house he held onto the door handle and fell into their house when they opened the door.

Max & Grandma 'Chele

With his Luigi doll, reluctantly getting back in the stroller.
When we got home from "trick-n-treating" (as Max said it), tired Max crawled into his bed himself and asked for his "ba ba milk". He was so tired! Then Asher, Grandma 'Chele and I went to the store for diapers because we were out, and we stopped by my work to buy Asher the teddy bear he's been wanting. He's so clever, he told me one day that "Josh has a Teddy, and Max has a teddy, but I don't have a teddy..." in his saddest voice ever with his saddest puppy dog eyes. I can't resist the love of a teddy bear! Even though he's got a whole bed full of animals and Pillow Pets, I had to buy him this super-soft Teddy from my work that reminds me of Joshy's teddy. I'm a sucker, I know, but he's worth it.

He told EVERYONE he saw that he got a Frankenstein ring pop.

Sleepy Asher and his new teddy bear
Hope everyone had a happy Halloween!

Kid-isms: October 2011

Max was sitting on my lap, without his diaper on (he's potty training; this is how we do it), and he started saying, "Belly button! Belly button!" I looked down, expecting him to be lifting up his shirt and pointing at his belly button. Found him touching his penis instead. Turns out we need to go over some things.
(And yes, I know this is going to embarrass him later. What else are blogs for but to store priceless memories like this one?)

Asher, while I carved our pumpkin, pointing at me, "Cute mommy!"
"Mommy, you are the best mommy in the whole world!"
"Mommy is the best, better than the rest!"
Upon seeing the insides of the pumpkin: "Ew, that's disgusting. I'm not touching that. Mom, you do it."

***

Pointing at computer, several times every single day, Max requests these music videos by name:
"Fire flames!"  Through the Fire and the Flames by Dragonforce, which you can find here.
"Play doh, play doh!" They Know by Drake, which you can find here (clean version). Seriously, you should listen to at least the chorus. You'll understand why Asher started calling it "play doh play doh".
"Ground pound!" Operation Ground and Pound by Dragonforce, which you can find here.
"Bubble pop!" Catchy song with offensive video, found here
To any one of these songs, Max will bounce to the beat and even put a pretend microphone to his mouth. He's even started attempting the big jump they do in "ground pound". Some day I'll post a video of it, if I can figure out the camera.
I'm quite concerned that the kids never request to hear my music, only Steve's. Oh no.

Asher, after being sick all week, "Mom, why does the food go down, and then come back up?"
He was sneaking food and eating it behind my back, before his stomach was ready to digest again.

***

I've got a slight obsession with the "Hallelujah" song lately. The other day, after listening to it over and over, Asher finally said, "What does alujah mean?" I said, "Praise unto God." He said, "Why do you like it so much?"

***

Every night, while falling asleep Max lays in singing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. "Twinkle twinkle staaaar! How I wonder what AAAARE!"or Itsy Bitsy Spider, "Izzy pider, water POUT! Down rain, wash pider OUT!"
I.LOVE.THIS.

Joshua does lots of cute things, but rarely says one-liners that would transfer well to written format. Mostly he melts my heart and makes me laugh through facial expression, physical affection, and cute ways he plays with toys and his brothers. Just in case you're wondering why you don't see a lot of Joshua-isms on here. He's almost nine now, so he's not really in that cute little quirky stage where they're still figuring out language.

First Day of School Pictures

Joshua is a big third grader!

Trying to show us his Mario backpack... bad lighting!

Asher is a big Kindergartener

Max didn't want to be left out

This is how far behind Max walked the whole way to school

This is how happy Asher was about it.

Refusing to wear the monkey headband

Refusing to say hi to the kid next to him

...eating the monkey headband?

Walking home from the first day of school

Max had to stop for a snack

For some reason he looks so old to me in this picture!

Ah, there he is.

Max had to stop and climb on EVERY single rock along the way

He said he was EXHAUSTED from the walk home, immediately sprawling on the floor like he'd just walked 2 miles. The walk is seriously so short.

Josh, also exhausted from a long, awesome day in third grade!
